Preperations-Windows 10 Part 1

Guide For Properly Upgrading To Windows 10
GerminatorX135 GerminatorX135 04/05/2016
Time to start off this blog.
I really recommend you to install Windows 10 because unlike Windows 8, where it's too tablet PC focused, the start menu is back. There are alot more new things too.
There are about 2 months left before the free upgrade offer ends. So don't miss the chance and just go for Windows 10.
Now, before we clean install Windows 10, there are a few things you need to do.

First of all, we're gonna make sure your PC is compatible with Windows 10. So here are the requirements you need to run Windows 10:
Processor: At least 1GHz
RAM: 1GB for 32bit Windows 10 or 2GB for 64bit
Required space: 16GB for 32bit and 20GB for 64bit
Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
Display:800x600

You should be running Windows 7 or 8/8.1 to be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free(Genuine Windows obviously. We don't encourage piracy so please do not ask any help if your Windows version is not genuine.)

If your PC is compatible, that's good. We can continue.
But if not, might as well buy a new PC. If you are running Vista or XP, seriously? Time to move on....

Most of you should get the upgrade notification by now and if that's the case, your PC should be compatible. But if your PC does not get the notification yet but meets the required specs, it doesn't matter since we are gonna use a different install method.

Anyhow, the laptop I'll be using for this blog is this Asus K43U which I helped to repair a few issues for my friend.
(Seriously, this laptop is shit. Sluggish performance, cheap build quality, some pieces are falling apart like the keyboard, mousepad is dead, battery life sucks, runs Windows 7 starter which I hate because you can't even change the wallpaper, and this thing is only 3 years old and it already had overheating issues, the whole thing needs to be disassembled down to the motherboard to clean off a bunch of dust on the fans and heatsink......I'm glad this is not my laptop. My real PC is in the background.)

Now, let's start with creating an install disc for Windows 10. So the first thing you have to do is go to this link below and download the media creation tool. Just click the download tool now.
www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

Now, once you downloaded the Media Creation Tool, move the .exe file to your desktop and open it.
When prompted by the license agreement crap, just click accept.
Now you will be greeted by this screen.

For my method, you need to click create installation media for another PC. This will download the files that we need to burn onto the install disc.(I'm doing this on another PC with Windows 10 already installed. But the only for the part where I need to download the files for the installation disc.)

Now when you see this screen, make sure to select the right Windows edition that matches your current Windows version and hardware. Otherwise, you might have problems activating later on.
Select your language, and choose the right edition and architecture.

If you are not sure which edition is right for you,
The following Windows version that will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Home
Windows 7 Starter(Which comes with the Asus K43U I'm using for the blog.),
Windows 7 Home Basic
Windows 7 Home Premium
Windows 8/8.1

The following Windows version that will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro
Windows 7 Professional
Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows 8/8.1 Pro

Choose 64bit or 32bit architecture depending on what version of your Windows runs on and according to the minimum requirements.
If you still unsure what to choose, just tick the use recommend options for this PC.

I will be installing Windows 10 Home 32bit for the laptop.

Once you got the right edition, you will be asked to choose what media to use. If you want to burn the install disc, select the ISO file. But if you want to use a USB drive, click the flash drive option instead.

Now leave the tool to download. It's quite a large file(Around 2 to 3GB) so it make take hours to download depending on your internet speed.

Once downloaded, burn the ISO file to a blank DVD-R or a DVD-RW or load it up to a USB flash drive(Make sure is formatted properly)

Finally, before we continue, I highly recommend you back up everything important. Since with this method, everything is going to be deleted. So get your photos, music, ideos, games(Along with your save files too), documents and anything else important backed up. Use something like an external hard drive for this.
If you want to upgrade your hard drive before installing Windows 10, this is your chance to do it now.

Things will continue in part 2!
